Twitter Fights Off the Thought That it's PeakingTwitter has suffered a massive loss in its first published financial results since the social networks highly anticipated US stock market debut last year, and though the company might not have been surprised, punters took a different view, with shares dropping almost 25 percent in value.

Twitter told shareholders it lost $US511 million/$AU573 million in the last three months of last year, that’s despite a doubling of revenue from 12 months ago to a better-than-expected $US243 million/$AU273 Million.

Financials aren’t the only woes the micro-blog are suffering, Twitter seems to be testing a new heavier design and it’s users haven’t been receptive of the changes. Facebook Compared to a Disease… about to be curedFacebook has been called lots of things since it rise to stardom in 2006. According to 2 US researchers however, the social network is most comparable to an infectious disease.

The researchers reckon that the online behemoth is experiencing a spike, right before its decline, they also claim the social network will lose 80 per cent of users by 2017.

Two doctoral candidates in mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University made their claims in a paper published online at a scientific research archive, but not yet peer-reviewed.

Facebook losing 800,000,000 user might seem like a fantasy, if history is any measure however it may just happen.

Facebooks One Billionth UserFacebook reckons it now has more than one billion users, serious bragging rights by anyone’s standard.

However, some analysts still have serious worries about how the social network site can make money from members.

Co-founder and Head Honcho Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement yesterday, saying the number is “humbling”.

“This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month,” Zuckerberg said in a statement. “Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.”

The social network site reached one billion monthly active users on September 14, according to Zuckerberg. The wizbang number is slightly lower but equally as impressive,  according to Zuckerberg Facebook has 600 million mobile users :: Read the full article »»»»
