A blogger has been ordered to shut down pornographic websites because they featured Speedo swimming costumes and domain names using the company’s trademark. Speedo took blogger Dave Evans to the Federal Court, claiming his websites infringed trademarks and threatened the company’s reputation. The court heard the Australian blogger had registered domain names containing the word “Speedo”. It heard some of his sites had images of men wearing Speedo briefs and pornographic images. Justice Geoffrey Flick ordered Evans to close the websites and not register new domain names using the Speedo trademark. He has also been ordered to pay the company’s legal costs. The company claimed the websites and the use of the company’s trademark as part of his domain names could damage the “valuable reputation and goodwill associated with the name and trade mark Speedo”
